The North American Taylor Curtis, 23 years old, participated in 8th Jet Waves, FreeRide World Championship, happened in November 24th, 25th and 26th 2006 in Vila Beach, Imbituba/SC. The rider speaks with INEMA team about your history on jet ski.
This was the second time that Curtis participates in Brazil's Jet Waves: "I was the last year. This is my second international competition, too", tells the rider that got sixth placement in championship. "It's a great championship, but it has bad conditions, waves are very, very small and I don't know what do in small waves", lamented.
Curtis didn't hide your joy for take part in this event: "Without the small waves, it's every good. It's a beautiful place to make the competition with a great people... Just needs sun!" The rider loves Brazil and tells that know Florianopolis and São Paulo, too. Curtis stayed one week in this country, but he didn't train in Vila Beach, before the championship.
He eminences the difficulty to make tricks with small waves: "I like to jump in big waves because I jump higher. In small waves is more difficult, jet became heavier", explains. Curtis affirms that prefer surf: "It's my style, my jet is good on surf. I like to watch, too."
The interested for jets had been appeared early in Curtis' life, with fifteen years old he started ride on jet and six years ago he begin participate of competitions. He lives on the beach in California and use train for two hour about three times for week: "I live very near on the beach, so I train at home. Beyond this, I do motocross and mountain bike, too", completes.
The rider affirms that he had ever been received the family's support: "They like it. I just need more money", kids. Curtis makes some thank to IFWA for the hard work make by them, to Tchello and Pro Nautica for support him. "I hope next year will be better, but I'm very happy for be here", finishes.
