Luís Centeno Fragoso, is one of the judges of the 9th edition of Jet Waves Championship, that will happen in the 08 and September 09, 2007, in the Brave Beach, in the city of Itajaí, in Santa Catarina's state (BR). Check out the interview!

Luís Centeno Fragoso, 49 years old, is managing of the City hall of Lisboa, freerider and tennis player, everything at the same time. A lot of people complain of the lack of time and disposition. But this man always find time to do what he likes, to be happy. That year he will be, for the first time, a judge of the 9th edition of Jet Waves Championship, of which he already participated 4 years ago, that will happen at the Brave Beach, in Santa Catarina. For that he will travel a lot, because now he lives in Oeiras, close to Lisboa, in Portugal.

"My experience of Jet is more than 16 years, as I referred, in circuit competition, endurance and now free", comments how was his beginning. Who motivated it it was its friend José Manuel Anjos, that is his main company in the jet-ski practice and was already judge in editions previous of Jet Waves. It was enough to try the pleasure in walking of jet-ski while he was in a lake with José Manuel, to be addicted in the sport until today.

To be judge he thinks that is indispensable to know the maneuvers, already to have practiced or to be practicing free rides. But the one that he really likes is of the practice of the sport. Of course, without demerit the judge function. For Luís, the free ride changed: "Everything or almost everything, because if I am on the weekend without going to water I feel the my work's rhythm is not the same".

HOW TO BEGIN

To have your own jet-ski is one of the main difficulties found to begin in the sport. In Europe a jet-ski costs 5.000 euros on the average. In Brazil, the values begin about R$5.000,00 and they passed of R$50.000,00. After acquired the jet everything is easier, so you just have to supply the gasoline. But will be better to concentrate in the pleasures of the practice of that sport as to leave the problems in the soil and "fly" on the waves, feeling the adrenaline running loosens in the blood vessel.

To begin, look for calm water, but if your objective is the free ride, then the domain must to be larger, since is necessary balance and the maneuvers are very difficult. Luís suggests that, after acquiring practice in the Jet Ski, would be good to begin with the surf and later to pass for the free ride. What gives a good base, beginning for the maneuvers and, like this, to pass for the practice of jumps with the Jet Ski, to pass for the free ride. He still increases the importance of experienced person's accompaniment in the beginning for best to learn more complicated and risky maneuvers.

To learn, always pay attention in the more experts. It is important not to forget of the safety. You have always to use lifeguard, gloves, tennis and it cuts current. We know very well that the sea is for everybody, and then respect the other athletes that you meet, to after also to be respected.

JET WAVES

With relationship to Jet Waves' organization, he tells us that: "The championship is great, very much organized by Tchello and his team. In fact, and also as organizer of the Portuguese test of the Championship of the world, I have been learning a lot with Tchello of which I have the enormous pleasure to be friend". He doesn't know Brave Beach, place chosen for the accomplishment of the tests, but he says trust in the organizer's choice.

Luís says that in spite of the maneuvers be similar, the attitude on top of the Stand up (of foot) and of the Stand down (sat down) are different, and the first category has much more competitors. For him, notable is the competitors' Leandro Vieira and Pierre Maixente that compete in both categories.

The main difference of Jet Waves of that year is that he won't be more the corollary end of the World Championship that participates, since the American test will be after the Brazilian. To be a good free rider and to raze in the championship is necessary that a routine is had varied with technical difficulty and you always vary the surf maneuvers with the jumps. The main approaches are judged by variety, daring, rhythm and technical record. Luís concludes the interview thanking to INEMA for the fantastic popularization that we do of the free ride!
