O primeiro Bali Freeride Nations Cup aconteceu no dias 2 e 3 de setembro de 2006 na praia de Double Six Beach Seminyak.

Seguindo uma série de adaptações (abençoando participantes) para todos os participantes, pilotos, companheiros e convidados curtiram uma dança característica com 200 dançarinos na área norte de Bali, uma boa vindas para todos os que compareceram.

A manhã do primeiro dia de competição foi abençoada por várias ondas boas medindo 2 metros, o era tudo que os competidores esperavam. Depois da final, pilotos encontraram o time técnico da IFWA e todos competiram a primeira bateria da categoria Pro Stand Up.

Pro Stand Up Oito pilotos da África do Sul, Estados Unidos, Brasil, França, Marrocos, Alemanha e Espanha participaram da bateria. Primeiro na marca foi Thomas Gunther da Alemanha e Xan Sampaio (que também é um grande jornalista) do Brasil. Essa dupla mostrou uma ótima determinação e controle sobre as ondas. No final dos 8 minutos do regulamento os dois pilotos tinham o mesmo número de pontos. Seguindo para as próximas baterias estão Gil and Pierre, Yacine e Eric seguidos de Zach Waddle e Michael Kruger. A multidão viu uma variedade de back flips, barrel rolls, one hander, can-can, side 180 e invert roll feito pelo primeiro time de pilotos que estavam em Bali.

Pro Sit Down Essa categoria teve 4 pilotos da África do Sul, Espanha e França. Liderando o pacote estava James Visser (coroado campeão da Africa do Sul) e seu pai Jimmy Visser que já teve sua própria coroa mundial 8 vezes. James era par de Pierre nas primeiras baterias. James que também escreve para a revista SA Water Craft estava a princípio contra Pierre. Seguindo eles, estava Bruno Rosello da Espanha, par de Jimmy Visser. Ainda com incríveis ondas envolvendo a competição, a multidão viu uma excitante disputa entre eles.

Durante o intervalo das baterias, o organizador do evento PT Bali Jaya Bahari Proevent fez um excelente trabalho mantendo o evento vivo com todos os parceiros oficiais e música para manter a multidão entretida.

Segunda Bateria Pro Stand Up e Pro Sit Down A segunda bateria começou com um aumento nas condições. Devido as mudanças no vento, Zach Waddle e Xan Sampaio sofreram machucados depois de uma tentativa de manobras variadas. Surpreendentemente os dois se saíram bem, apesar do dano. A competição para a segunda bateria encerrou com a categoria sit down.

Segundo e último dia O Segundo dia da competição começou na às 11h manhã com os pilotos da categoria Pro Stand Up prontos e engenhosos. Depois do primeiro dia de competição Gil e Pierre seguidos por Eric estavam liderando o grupo. James e Jimmy Visser mais Pierre estavam nessa ordem para a categoria Pro Sit Down.

Depois de ótimas três baterias, o evento teve um intervalo para todos os patrocinadores e duplas oficiais. O público foi tratado com músicas e um desfile com as últimas novidades da moda praia.

Finals Super ondas novamente saudaram os pilotos na final. Após uma hora de competição, as categorias tinham seus vencedores.

The inaugural 2006 Bali Freeride Nations Cup took place on September 2nd & 3rd on the shores of the Double Six Beach Seminyak. Following a upacara adat (blessing prayers) to all its participants, pilots, official partners and invited guests a dance featuring 200 dancers from an area north of Bali also welcomed those who attended.

The morning of the first day of competition was blessed by some good waves measuring 2 meters which was what all the competitors were hoping for. After a final riders meeting by the technical team from IFWA and all pilots competing the first heats for the Pro Stand Up class began.

Pro Stand Up
8 riders from South Africa, USA, Brazil, France, Morocco, Germany and Spain took stand to do battle. First on the mark was Thomas Gunther from Germany and Xan Sampaio (who is also a rider journalist) from Brazil. This pairing showed great determination to control the waves. At the end of the regulated 8 minutes both pilots had almost equal points. Next to follow on this heats are Gil and Pierre, Yacine and Eric followed by Zach Waddle and Michael Kruger. The crowd saw a variety of back flips, barrel rolls, one hander, can-can, side 180 and invert roll for the first time in Bali by these amazing pilots.

Pro Sit Down
This class featured 4 pilots from South Africa, Spain and France. Leading the pack was James Visser (South Africa's newly crowned champion) and his father Jimmy Visser who happens to own 8 world crowns. James was paired with Pierre on the first heats. James who also writes for SA Water Craft Magazine was in his element against Pierre. Following them was Bruno Rosello from Spain pairing with Jimmy Visser. Still with amazing waves holding the competition, the crowd saw an exciting array of tricks from them.

During the break of the heats the event organizer PT Bali Jaya Bahari Proevent did a wonderful job in keeping the event lively with booths from all official partners and music to keep the crowd entertained.

Second Heats Pro Stand Up and Pro Sit Down
The 2nd heats started in swelling conditions. Due to changes in the wind shift, both Zach Waddle and Xan Sampaio sustained injuries after attempting a variation of tricks and maneuvers. Amazingly both riders came out good on their injuries. The competition for the 2nd heats ended with the sit down class.

Event Report - Second and Final Day
The second day of competition started in the morning at 11am with the Pro Stand Up riders all ready and geared up. After the 1st day of competition Gil and Pierre followed by Eric were leading the group. James and Jimmy Visser plus Pierre were in that order for the Pro Sit Down Class. After a great 3rd heats the event had a brief intermission to entertain all sponsors and official partners. The crowds were treated with some amazing music and fashion show featuring the latest beach wear.

Finals
Superb waves again greeted the riders for the finals. After an hour on competition, both classes had their winners.
