After Bali FreeRide 2006, Nei and Ayumi with some friends had a great time in Bali. In September 8th 2006, they did typical program's tourists. See what Ayumi tells!!!
We arrived in Bali on Friday, after three days traveling. The Bali FreeRide started on Saturday and our priority was covering the event, so we knew the place after the championship. We wanted knew the culture, place, architecture, because it's a different country.
This day, we would go to a jet ski tour, but marine was closed. The event's organization gives us two cars with driver, so our friend Kevin had idea to make an elephant tour and visit some temples. The group was me, Nei, Kevin and Aaron from PWCT and American photographer Heather.
The expectative was big, because nobody had never ride with an elephant before and it's so different! Arrived in Bakas Village, a beautiful park, with a lot of green. I thought that the elephants were small? It's fifteen elephants domesticates, each one had a trainer, its hotel and swimming pool, where made acrobatics. It's so soft and cute, we're sit in the chair put on the elephant's back, secure and comfortable.
It's an hour of adventure, each one had your own elephant, five, with a slowly step, their rhythm. Inside the park we saw some temples and rice plantation, there are houses and streets, people taking shower in the river, kids and adults, a custom so different. Of course we made a lot of photos to bring of recordation. In the end, the guide invited us to sit in elephant's tooth ivory, it's scare but a recordation for all life.
It's 2pm Kevin and I were hungry. The guide let us to a restaurant far to downtown, about 30 minutes later, we arrived. The place was beautiful, in the middle of a rice plantation, it's a building with 3 floors and the restaurant was in terrace, we had a 360º view, there are some pictures and the waitress wore typical clothes. We can the different colors in plantation, wonderful, people working with typical hats. A scene, which we don't see in Brazil, only in Asian continent.
The food in Bali was good, there were a lot of salads, pepper, grills and sweet. The typical food, Nei and I ate because is a way of learn about the place, was so sweet, with pepper, so different. In tourists' area has many food's options. A thing very fun that happened in Bali, was one day I wanted a soap, a hot soap, but the soaps there are cold!
In back, passed in a temple where tourists can enter only with a typical clothe, the child too, we put what seems a skirts. We stayed there for one hour, take a lot of pictures. The temples has a typical architecture, with pointed cover and tower, gold, dragons... Who don't know the local culture, it's all so beautiful. But I believe that who know the culture and history, is wonderful be there. Bali is a mystic island. Has a lot of rituais. All mornings, in front of houses, the people offer flowers in little baskets.
People are so nice, receptive and welcomer, there. Due to be a tourist city, in some areas people were so insistence to sell something. At night we came back to the hotel, very tired, but very happy. It's a travel that I recommend.
