Aconteceu de 24 a 26 de novembro de 2006, a 5ª Etapa do Campeonato Mundial de Free Ride 2006, em Imbituba/SC. Confira os resultados!

Em uma final com muita chuva e vento, o sul-africano Jimmy Visser venceu a quarta etapa do Campeonato Mundial de Freeride (manobras de jet ski nas ondas) na categoria Sit Down (jet sentado) e o francês Pierre Maixent venceu na categoria Stand Up (jet em pé) neste final de semana, 24 a 26 de novembro, na Praia da Vila, em Imbituba, Santa Catarina.

Jimmy Visser disputou com o francês Pierre Maixent uma final emocionante e muito acirrada. O sul-africano mostrou muita técnica ao vencer as condições adversas do tempo. ''Agora estou no grupo dos pilotos que tem oito títulos mundiais junto a Valentino Rossi, na Motovelocidade e Michael Schumacher, na F1'', desabafou depois de anunciado o resultado, confirmando seu oitavo título mundial na categoria Sit Down.

Na final da categoria Stand Up, repetiu-se a final da copa do mundo de futebol. O italiano Federico Bufacchi entrou na água disposto a vencer o francês Maixent, mas o mar mexido e com formação irregular atrapalhou os planos do italiano de repetir o resultado de 2005 quando conquistou a etapa brasileira. Pierre Maixent venceu a quarta e última etapa conquistando o bi campeonato mundial na categoria Stand Up. ''Estou muito feliz de conquistar o título no Brasil. Foi difícil, pois disputei duas finais duríssimas uma logo após a outra, mas consegui ainda vencer na stand up'', disse Maixent que ficou vice-campeão mundial na sit down.

Três pilotos brasileiros ficaram nas semifinais. Du Nunes na Sit Down e Ivo Sehn, na Stand Up, finalizaram a etapa em terceiro lugar. Leandro Vieira foi o quarto colocado na Sit Down.

A quarta e última etapa do campeonato Mundial de Freeride foi uma das mais disputadas dos últimos tempos. ''Foi uma prova disputadíssima onde não haviam favoritos. O nível técnico foi muito bom e a decisão foi por pequena diferença de pontos'' explicou Marcelo Brandão , presidente da IFWA, entidade internacional que rege o esporte. ''Já estamos trabalhando para o mundial de 2007 que deve ter um grande crescimento tanto em qualidade quanto em número de participantes'', finalizou Marcelo.

O 8º Jet Waves aconteceu sob supervisão da IFWA e da Federação Motoaquática do Estado de Santa Catarina (FEMOAESC). O evento é patrocinado pela Malwee e pela Yamaha com apoio do Governo de Santa Catarina, da Prefeitura de Imbituba e da ProNáutica Jet Ski.

Jet Ski World Championship in Imbituba - Results

With a final with a lot of rain and wind, the South African Jimmy Visser won the fourth round of Free Ride World Championship (maneuvers with jet ski on the waves) in Sit Down (jet sitting) class and the French Pierre Maixent won in Stand Up (jet on foot) last weekend, from November, 24th to 26th, Vila Beach, in Imbituba, Santa Catarina.

Jimmy Visser disputed with the French Pierre Maixent an exciting and very hard final. The South African showed a lot of technical to overcome the weather's bad conditions. ''Now, I'm in the group that have eight world titles together Valentino Rossi, on Motospeed and Michael Schumacher, on F1'', says after the results confirm his eighth world title in Sit Down class.

Stand Up class' final, repeat the Cup soccer's final. The Italian Federico Bufacchi entered in the water prepared to win the French Maixent, but the bad sea with irregular formation muddled the Italian's plans to repeat the result of 2005 when he got Brazilian's round. Pierre Maixent won fourth and last round, getting the second World Championship in Stand Up class. ''I'm so happy for get the title in Brazil. It's hard, because I disputed two difficult finals, one after the other, but I got win in Stand Up'', says Maixent that is world vice champion in Sit Down.

Three Brazilian riders stayed in the semifinals. Du Nunes in Sit Down and Ivo Sehn, in Stand Up, finished the round in third place. Leandro Vieira was the fourth in Sit Down.

The fourth and last round of FreeRide World Championship was one of more disputed of the last times. ''It's much disputed, doesn't there favorites. The level technical was very good and the decision was for a small difference in the points'' explain Marcelo Brandão, IFWA's president, international entity that rule this sport. ''We're working to 2007 world championship, which must have a big growth in quality and riders'', finished Marcelo.

The 8th Jet Waves happened with supervision of IFWA and Motoaquatic Federation of Estado of Santa Catarina (FEMOASC). The event is sponsor for Malwee and Yamaha with support of Government of Santa Catarina, City Hall of Imbituba and ProNáutica Jet Ski.
